Dalegarth

Dear Mike,
Just a note to THANK YOU and the rest of the band for helping make
our party at Dalegarth so memorable at the weekend. Thanks to you,
Rick, Carolyn and Ben. You did the dance calling with good grace
and everyone had such a good time. I loved the instrumental numbers
and, of course, Carolyn’s pipes on arrival. Thanks once again
– and I hope the band enjoyed playing as much as we did dancing
and listening!
Good luck for the summer and may the gigs flow in: You
strode to the edge for us – thanks!
Best wishes

Greystoke
Village Hall: June 6th 2009 : Wedding ceilidh
Dear Mike, Carolyn, Rick and Ben;
Thanks for putting on your usual terrific show for
our wedding in Greystoke. We've had loads of people saying it was
the best ceilidh they've ever been to (many of them Scots, with
a slight tone of surprise in their voices!) It was just what was
wanted and was for me one of the best bits of what was a good day
generally.
You also managed to turn loads of French people
into massive ceilidh fans: I hope the cheers didn't get to you -
looking back at the photos, people look vaguely like they're doing
the same dance as each other!
Hope to see you all somewhere soon!
All the best; Diana and Tom |

To Mike, Carolyn, Rick and Ben;
This is just a little note to say thank you for
playing at our wedding on 4th April. First of all, we'd like to
thank Mike and Carolyn for playing so beautifully at Brantwood during
the day; and we'd also like to thank all four of you for keeping
everyone going at Belmount in the evening. Cheers, too, for letting
my old friend, Dan take control of the mic. at the end of the night;
it was only a matter of time...!!!

Ceilidh
for Langdale School: 28th February 2009.
Hi there!
Just a quick note to say a huge THANK-YOU to you & the rest
of your band for a fantastic evening on Saturday. We all really
enjoyed it!
You certainly live up to your reputation as being the best band
around !!!
Many people couldn't come as the tickets sold out really fast &
others are asking for it to be an annual event in a bigger venue.
So whilst things are fresh in my mind I thought I would give you
lots of advanced notice & ask if you were available again in
Feb 2010?
Let me know as & when - meanwhile have a lovely week.
With kind regards, Susie, Langdale School PTA.
Again, many thanks Mike to you and the rest of your
band. Everyone had a great time, from the 2 year olds to those who
were somewhat older!!!
I hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Kind regards,
Mark Squires, Headteacher, Langdale
CE Primary School.
Hi Mike,
I just wanted to say a big belated "THANK YOU!"
for last weekend's Langdale Ceilidh.
Everyone I have spoken to had a fantastic time and
loved the band. Our children haven't stopped talking about it all
week! And we have been listening to the music on your website every
day)
There is talk of making it an annual event...
I would also like to buy a CD. Could you recommend
one? We particularly like the fast, dancey songs.
Cheers,
Craig Wilson, Langdale parent and resident.

Dear
Mike and Striding Edge,
First, thank you, all 4 of you, SO much for giving us such wonderful
music on Saturday. Everyone loved your playing; a great number of
people have been in touch to say how good you were. And the fact that
so many people danced, all the time, was a tribute to the quality
of your music. I've been listening to the CD and it brings it all
back!
I see you're playing at Whittington on Fri 24 April. We'd love to
have tickets for that. Can you tell me how much and I'll get a party
together.
Again, thanks for helping to make my 60th birthday such a memorable
celebration.
Best wishes,

Dear
Mike, Carolyn, Rick and the rest of Striding Edge,
We are writing to thank you so much for playing
at our wedding on the 27th December at the Merchant Adventurers
Hall in York.
Our wedding day couldn't have been more perfect
and the high energy and inclusive ceilidh really topped off the
evening. Several people commented how much they enjoyed your music
and dancing..the caterer (who does many functions at The Hall) said
that he has never seen so many people dancing, and for so much of
the evening! That is a real credit to your enthusiaism and hard
work. We hope that you enjoyed the function as much as us, our famillies
and guests at the wedding! Thanks again and hopefully we'll hear
and dance to your music again soon!
Best wishes, Anna and Gavin Haworth: York

Dear
Mike,
Thank you so much for coming down to Macclesfield . It was really
a fantastic night and everyone enjoyed themselves! It felt so good
looking around the hall at all those smiling faces – I was
on a high for days! The workshops have been received well and very
positive comments about them from the staff. We raised money that
was far in excess of our expectations. Thank you, thank
you, thank you!
We have a committee meeting this week to discuss the Ceilidh amongst
other things- I think there is a definite feeling that we will want
to repeat next year… so if you fancy it?
Do please pass on our thanks to Carolyn (did she find Macclesfield
Forest?) and Ben and James
Hope to see you again soon

Hi
Mike,
HUGE thanks for coming to Ribby Hall to play at our wedding on 18th
October 2008. We all had a great time and feedback from our family
and friends has been that the dancing was something everyone could
get involved in whether they had done it before or not. The music
is fantastic and the icing on the cake for our wedding day.
We wish you and the band all the very best and hope to catch up with
you again soon.
Best wishes

The
band, Striding Edge, was superb. The musicians fully lived up to
their reputation as the Storming Northern Roots Band. They pitched
the mix of music right for the audience and the excellent calling
made it possible for everyone to join in. Moreover, they retrieved
the slipped schedule by playing for two and a half hours non-stop,
without a break....

Hi Mike
Just to say many thanks for a brilliant ceilidh at Helen and Dan's
wedding last Saturday. We had so many comments on the night, and
have had many more since, on what a great evening it was and what
a brilliant band you were. Peter and I have been to lots of ceilidhs,
and were really impressed by the music, and with the way in which
you led us through the dances. It was the best we've been to. The
snowball dance at the beginning worked really well!
Best wishes,

Dear
Mike,
Please accept this letter as a token of my gratitude
for the excellent music you provided for our ceilidh on Friday night.
The variety and presentation was complemented on by everyone, you
even set the toes tapping from those who "don't do dancing".
Our guest of honour was particularly impressed and was really pleased
with the energy you gave the evening.
It is always a pleasure to work with proffesionals
who quietly (or not so quietly in the case of Striding Edge!) and
discreetly go about their business, adding so much to a special
event, and I thank you for your wonderfull contribution to the evening.
With many thanks and kind regards,

Hi Mike,
We just had to drop a line to say a very big 'THANK YOU' to you
all at our wedding on 25th October at 'The Inn on The Lake'. What
a fantastic night Paul and I had, you made our wedding evening one
never to forget, our guests are still talking about it. We were
so pleased to see from age 8 to 82 dancing away. Everyone had such
a wonderful time, thank you once again...everyone should know what
a brilliant time they would have if they book you!!
I for one was worried about the teenagers and what they would think,
my own daughter had been practising her dance moves for a few weeks
before the wedding, thinking we were having a 'disco', we didn't
tell anyone our plans and boy did it pay off the teenagers loved
it, everyone loved it!!
Thanks again Mike, all the best for the
future.

Dear Mike,
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you and Striding Edge
for a fantastic evening's celebrations at our recent wedding on

commented that they thoroughly enjoyed the evening's dancing, and
it proved to be a great way of getting all the guests involved and
mixing. Calvin and I had a great time and will treasure some great
memories of all the guests mingling, dancing and laughing throughout

Mike
Thanks so much for a fantastic evening. I know everyone
had a great time - but you probably worked that out! People are

it that they're going straight back for more at your show on 13th

Hi Mike
John and Pat have asked me to write and thank you and the band for
coming to the Canberra Club in the Ribble Valley on Friday, 25 May
2007. The feedback from everyone that came to the party is that they
had a fantastic night and the beautiful music you all played, the
singing and the dances far exceeded Mum and Dad's expectations. It
was lovely to see everyone get involved, especially the children,
thank you for involving them and for being so patient calling the
dance steps. We would strongly recommend you to anyone looking at
your website and wondering whether to have a ceilidh.
We wish you all the the very best and hope to see you again at another
family bash very soon.
Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the CD & note. I'm absolutely blown away
by the success of Saturday night.
It was really important to me that Striding Edge led the evening
- as a result ticket sales went ballistic and I could relax in the
knowledge that the professionalism and sheer quality of the band
would do the rest on the night. And you did! Between us we created
a truly thrilling event and by osmosis we raised over £1500
for Macmillan Cancer.

Following you and your band performing at our wedding
on the 18th September at Muncaster Castle, Helen and I wanted to
thank you all for a fantastic evening's dancing and entertainment.
All our guests thought you guys were fantastic and partied the night
away. Even the fellas not usually up for dancing got up and put
on their dancing shoes- a real result!
Mike, your dance teaching style and patience was
great given that you had to cope with a wild selection of inebriated
Cumbrian locals and foreigners from around the UK: Nice one!

Dear
Mike,
Now that
we have returned relaxed and refreshed
from our honeymoon, we wanted to write and say a big thank-you
to you and the rest of the 'gang' at 'Striding Edge'
for playing at our wedding at the Keswick
County House Hotel on 5th July 2003. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
throughout the evening, and as we hope was obvious, our guests had
a fantastic time too! The number of guests on the dance floor during
the evening (and their variety of ages too!) is testament to your
abilities to appeal to a wide audience, many of whom had never been
to a ceilidh before!
We are
grateful to Mike for his patient teaching of the dance steps to
us and our guests, and to the rest of the band for their energetic
performances, which enthused the gathered masses! Our memories of
the 'nine-pin' and 'basket' dances in particular will stay with us forever!
We both
felt that Striding Edge was the ideal choice for our reception entertainment,
allowing guests to meet new people, and try something different, all
to the beat of a fabulous live band! We would therefore be more
than happy to provide positive comments to any prospective customers
wishing to speak to past clients of Striding Edge.
Once
again, many thanks for helping to make our wedding day such a fabulous
day to remember.
Best
wishes

thank you enough!it was a FANTASTIC ceilidh!
I had a really

perfect in fact!
Your music and
the dances really were the perfect thing to round off the fabulous
day that we all shared. I've been listening back to your C.D. since
we got back from our hols. The Carlisle Reel in particular brings
back the happy memories and sentiments of the 19th July.
Loads of our guests
have told us how much they enjoyed the ceilidh, in particular those
very experienced in Scottish Country Dancing! I hope we can catch
a public performance sometime in the future
Very best wishes
