Mike Willoughby was a founder member of Striding Edge in 1995, and is the band's frontman and caller.

Mike's music career took off in the eighties when he toured Britain with leftfield Lakeland folkies Strangefolk. In the 90's he performed internationally with Pete Morton and Roger Wilson and street theatre group The Fairly Famous Familly. In the 90's, he also established himself around the North as a solo singer songwriter.

Since 1995, he has concentrated on working with Striding Edge and building up an impressive record as a community musician. For example, In 2001, Mike was Artist In Residence for B.B.C. Radio Cumbria.

He lives in Ulverston with his amazing missus Jeannie.
