Ceilidh Dances

Striding Edge have built a reputation as one of the most thrilling and engaging ceilidh bands in England!

Elterwater hornpipes, Ambleside polkas and whirling Wyresdale jigs, paired with good solid ceilidh dances and our famously clear dance-calling, and you have a sure-fire recipe to set the dance floor ablaze!

The dances are demonstrated and 'called' by band members Mike and Rick, and sometimes Ben and Carolyn, too! No previous experience is necessary from our audiences, just enthusiasm and willingness to 'get up and have a go' and have fun dancing with partners and friends old and new alike!

Because the dance callers are also musicians and band members, our dances are always well integrated into the music and into our show, giving a natural, unforced feel to our ceilidhs: We get on with creating a heady atmosphere and making the night really flow.

To allow this chemistry to happen, we do vary the mix: Our ceilidh nights are always a rich mixture of ceilidh dances along with songs and tunes to listen and sing-along to. (Perhaps a Lakeland clog-dance, too!) These entertaining pieces allow the audience catch their breath back, ready for the next dance. We do believe that this mix is true to the informal spirit of the celtic ceildih!

It's been refined by 12 years on the road, and we know our ceilidh show is pretty unique and much loved by our audiences; so why not book us and enjoy the best!
