Striding Edge @ Halton community centre: 22nd October 2011

Once again Striding Edge returned to play for the community of Halton in North Lancashire and this time it was a sell-out show with an energetic dance crowd of 100 people. The organiser Susan writes:

Hello all and welcome to the new year! This is Striding Edge's 17th year as a professional band, and as ever we are looking forward to an action-packed year on the road, playing cooking ceilidh dance to folks of all ages across our regular stomping ground of Cumbria and North Lancashire. Thank you to everyone whose booked us so far, we're really looking forward to playing for you! Here's a short focus on some of thegigs in our calendar:

'Arts Out West' West Cumbria Rural Ceilidh Tour: February-March 2011.

We are delighted to be taking to the road in the early part of the year on a spell of rural touring for 'Arts Out West'!We shall be playing some lively community ceilidhs in some smashing West Cumbrian village halls, so if you fancy shaking off the winter blues and coming to see us for a dance, please check out the dates on our calendar!>>

No doubt we'll be playing some dances and songs from our current album Borrowdale Johnny; which was launched on a very sucsessfull Arts Out West tour in 2007.

In October, we once again play for our friends the Bob Graham Round Club; The venerated Lakeland fell-running club, whose members have managed to run round an incredible number of over 40 Lakeland peaks in a day AND SURVIVED! Their final test is to survive the fast and frenetic 3-hour ceilidh we provide for the club every two years, which is a real treat! Thanks 'Bobs' and 'Bobesses;, we'll see you in October!

Of course every wedding is a unique and special occasion that we feel honoured to play at, and it's always great to play for old friends when they get wed! For that very reason we're looking forward greatly to playing for Joe and Esther's wedding at the the wonderful Low Luckens Organic Resource Centre in July, a really unique and beautiful venue, and the site of many a memorable gig for us: See below!
